On Thursday, 29 May at 18:00 there will be a guided tour at the
exhibition 'Silver Girls. The Retouched History of the Baltic
States', led by Indrek Grigor, one of the curators of the
exhibition.
'Silver Girls' invites the visitor to discover the forgotten
stories of Baltic photographers, to find out known-unknown names
and to immerse themselves in the life of the late nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries captured in photographs. Indrek Grigor is
an exhibition curator, art critic and photography researcher at the
Tartu Art Museum. Together with Šelda Puķite and Agnė Narušytė, he
has selected the work of seven early photographers from Estonia for
the exhibition, uncovering a number of historical detectives hidden
by years of oblivion. Who is the most known unknown Estonian
photographer? How did an album of photos from gold mines in Siberia
end up in Anna Kukk's photo archive? What is the secret behind the
braid of Marie Riet's hair on display in the exhibition? Listen to
these unexpected stories and interesting discoveries on a public
curatorial tour.
The tour is free of charge with the purchase of a gallery visitor
ticket. Registration: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/szP7m3nbsH
The tour will be conducted in English.
