Astrida Rogule. Opportunities, Challenges and Hopes of the Contemporary Art Collection of Non-existing Museum.
Astrida Rogule, Senior Curator of the Contemporary Art Collection at the Latvian National Museum of Art, will present an overview of the museum's international contemporary art collecting strategy, originally envisioned as the foundation for a future Contemporary Art Museum of Latvia.
Her presentation will trace the development of the collection since 2005, highlighting the political, economic, social, and cultural factors that have shaped it. She will also discuss how the collection is communicated today and outline its future prospects.
Astrīda Rogule is an art historian, curator, and museum professional, as well as an Associate Professor at the Latvian Academy of Culture, where she teaches courses in cultural management, museology, museum marketing, contemporary art market, and other. She has been working in museums since 1981 and has published more than 300 articles and scholarly studies.
The event is open to all and free of charge, no registration
required.

This lecture is part of the public programme accompanying the
exhibition 'Between Dawns. Acquisitions of the Lithuanian National
Museum of Art, 2015-2025' on view at the National Gallery of Art
until September 21.
