Paskaita apie karo metu ukrainiečių kuriamą meną, dirbtuvės ir performansai gyvai

During the lecture, the artist will speak about the works of Ukrainian artists who reflect on the themes of confrontation, conflict, and war through the practices of contemporary art (performance art, installation, video art etc.). The lecture will be accompanied by a discussion about the challenges and changes that happened in the cultural life of Ukraine during the last year.

After the lecture, we invite you to an open workshop by Yaryna Shumska. The workshop is aimed to create a meeting point among people. We will encourage participants to exchange and express their thoughts, ideas, and interests through performance art, to reveal and develop their creative potential, to explore the opportunities by working in duos.

On Sunday, 5 March, 3:30 pm, performances created by teenagers and youth will be presented publicly in the spaces of the National Gallery of Art.  The performances were created during the workshops that we held at the National Gallery of Art in January and February and were led by Yaryna Shumska. Three groups of performers will present the results of the workshops.

Yaryna Shumska is an artist, performer and teacher. She works in the field of performance art, painting, graphics, and installation. Yaryna explores the concept of human "presence" that provokes changes in the primary significance of places and situations. The main themes are connected to the environment, place, its context, the memory of the objects and their invisible stories. Yaryna has participated in numerous exhibitions, performance art festivals, and conferences in Ukraine, Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Norway, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Israel, Japan, Thailand, USA and others.

The events will be held in English. Participation in the lecture and the workshop on the 2nd of March is free of charge.

Presentation of performances on the 5th of March - with the gallery ticket.
