In a European context, Lithuania has unacceptably high rates of suicide, bullying in schools, increasing numbers of patients with mental health issues, as well as stigmatisation and discrimination related to mental health issues. Pharmacy based treatment of mental health disorders still seems to offer no alternative. Arts and artistic activity is internationally recognized as a way of improving mental health, building communities and reducing social isolation. The Lithuanian National Progress Programme 2014-2020 names "culture" and "health" as horizontal priorities in the State policy. It is expected that questions of culture and health will be integrated into all the fields of public and political interest. This is a complex aim, which requires a close collaboration between governmental institutions and NGOs, and that priority is given to the quality, effectiveness, consistency and integration of the actions.

The conference will present cross-sectoral strategies and programmes, through experience from experts and projects in the United Kingdom, Finland and Lithuania. The programme of the Conference includes discussions on the theme of new partnerships in health care. The discussions will focus on changing relationships in the health and social care sectors and explore the need for increased collaboration between health care providers, clients, communities and the culture sector.

Audience: Policy makers and experts in the fields of: health care, social care, culture, education; Arts practitioners (visual, performance art, cinema, etc.); Health and social care professionals; Executive managers of public hospitals, care houses, etc.; Academics and researchers of health care and social sciences; Media.
