Invisible Labour

The artistic programme "Invisible Labour" continues the themes of the symposium by exploring our imaginaries of energy operating across both technological and social realms. This ephemeral force is essential not only for long-term transformations but also for sustaining the infrastructures of everyday life and networks of care.

Through a performative programme and an exhibition, visitors are invited to look at the backstages of contemporary life - from electrical discharges in the atmosphere or cables beneath the ground to the maintenance work that keeps the city running - and to consider how, in the context of climate change, geopolitical tensions and digital automation, we might rethink our relationship with that which fundamentally sustains our shared existence.

On 20 March at 18:30, we invite visitors to the exhibition opening at the National Gallery of Art, accompanied by a performance by Eglė Šimėnaitė.

On 21 March at 17:30, a guided tour of the exhibition will take place with its curator Martynas Germanavičius.

From 19-21 March, events from the performative programme will also take place at different locations across the city, including walks that invite participants to explore urban infrastructures, spaces and the systems that sustain everyday life.
