NGA Auditorium will host a talk by photographic historians and curators from Poland Adam Mazur and Lukasz Gorczyca.
The presenters will talk about the tradition of not representing Jews in Polish photography and the presence of Jews in Lithuanian photography. The lecturers are interested in how litvaks function in selected photographs, photographic cycles and reportages, as well as in photo albums. During the public talk the lecturers will look at 19th century domestic photography, 20th century documentary cycles and contemporary art. The phenomenon of the "discovery" of the late Moshe Raviv-Vorobeichik and his exhibition at the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius is a great opportunity to discuss the current but still unknown topic of the history of Lithuanian-Polish-Jewish photography in general. The talk will be conducted in English.
